  • 400 g butter (salted)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1ΒΌ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream (optional)
  • Electric green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 250 g orange fondant
  • 200 g black fondant
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F). Grease and line your baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine self-raising flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened black cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add softened butter and eggs into the dry mix; blend using an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add milk and vanilla extract while mixing until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool on a cooling rack completely.
  4. In another mixing bowl, beat together salted butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla extract and continue mixing. If too stiff, incorporate milk or cream as needed until reaching desired consistency. Mix in electric green food coloring until evenly distributed.
  5. Once the cake is cool, cut it into small pieces or crumbles. Begin layering by placing a layer of chocolate cake at the bottom of each jar. Follow with a layer of green buttercream frosting and repeat layers until jars are full. Top each jar with sprinkles for added flair.
  6. Roll out orange fondant to create witch hats or other shapes you desire. Use black fondant to craft witch legs or additional decorations as desired. Place your decorations atop each jar before serving!
