Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour two round baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Gradually mix in boiling water until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients using an electric mixer until fully blended.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Prepare the strawberry filling by cooking chopped strawberries with sugar and lemon juice until soft; thicken with cornstarch mixture.
