  • For the filling: 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature), 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon maple extract, 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together room temperature butter and maple sugar until blended. Add powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in pure maple syrup and maple extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, and salt together; gradually combine with wet ingredients until dough forms.
  5. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes. Roll out to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into shapes using a cookie cutter.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden around the edges; cool completely on wire racks.
  7. For the filling, beat together remaining butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, maple extract, and salt until smooth.
