Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter on medium speed until creamy. Add granulated sugar and cream until fluffy (3-4 minutes).
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture while mixing on low speed until just combined; the dough should be crumbly yet hold together when squeezed.
- Divide the dough into three portions: keep one plain, mix cocoa powder into another, and matcha powder into the third; knead until just incorporated.
- Roll each portion between parchment paper to about 1/8 inch thick and chill for 1-2 hours until solid.
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Cut shapes from chilled dough and place on lined baking sheets; chill again if needed.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are golden brown; cool completely before decorating.
